Soulage Café is a unique concept store that offers a blend of artisanal coffee, fine wine, and exclusive merchandise, all under the sophisticated brand name of Soulage. Inspired by the renowned French painter Pierre Soulages, known for his exploration of black and his innovative technique of "noir-lumière" (black light), this café embodies the artist's bold and edgy aesthetic.

Pierre Soulages: The Master of Black Pierre Soulages, born in 1919, is celebrated for his profound use of black, which he calls "outrenoir" (beyond black). His works are characterized by the interplay of light and texture, creating dynamic compositions that challenge traditional perceptions of color and light. Soulages' influence extends beyond the canvas, inspiring a minimalist and avant-garde approach in various artistic realms.

The Concept: Soulage Café is not just a place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine; it is an immersive experience that pays homage to Soulages' artistic vision. The interior design is monochromatic, featuring a striking black and white palette that reflects the painter's signature style. The space is both modern and edgy, creating an atmosphere that is both inviting and intellectually stimulating.

Exclusive Typography: Viperain To complement the aesthetic of Soulage Café, I developed a custom typography called Viperain. This typeface is sleek, contemporary, and mirrors the bold lines and stark contrasts found in Soulages' artworks. Viperain is used across all branding materials, from signage to menus, reinforcing the cohesive visual identity of the store.
